Dry Ice Blasting is a powerful, gentle, dry
and environmentally friendly cleaning method.
Check out this video on how well it works!
How Dry Ice Blasting Works
Dry ice is produced from liquid carbon
dioxide. Inside a dry ice pelletizer, the liquid carbon dioxide is
expanded under controlled conditions to form dry ice snow. This snow is
then pressed through an extruder plate into round, hard pellets.
The Dry Ice Blasting machine accelerates with
compressed air the dry ice pellets to a speed of approximately 300 metres
per second. The pellets hit the object to be cleaned. The surface is
shock-frozen in a fraction of a second. Due to the sudden thermo shock
generated on the surface to be cleaned, the coating/dirt contracts,
becomes brittle and cracks. Due to the cracking of the surface, the
pellets can reach under the dirt and remove it. The additional kinetic
energy removes the coating/dirt from the surface. Immediately after
impact, the pellet sublimates and goes back to atmosphere as a pure gas
(CO2) without leaving any moisture behind. The only thing left is the
coating/dirt removed from the surface and no blasting media has to be
disposed of. Since the hardness of the pellets is only approx. 2
Mohs, the cleaning is virtually non-abrasive, and the surface quality is
► No secondary waste
► No tarping and covering required
► No moisture left behind which could create
immediate or later damage on the infrastructure (plugs, lights,
ventilators, motors etc.) and the equipment, tools etc...
► No water left on ground, on work benches,
toolboxes, cabinets etc..
► Minimal residue clean up required
► Better cleaning result than when using water
or manual cleaning

Dry ice blasting technology has been used for
years in many industries. This powerful, dry, non-abrasive and
environmentally friendly cleaning method is regularly used as follows:
Food and Beverage Industry
Dry ice is non-toxic and environmentally
friendly so it will not contaminate machinery in the food and beverage
industry such as this dirty equipment in a pizza restaurant.
Electrical components and HVAC Equipment
As dry ice blasting is a dry cleaning method,
electric parts can be cleaned
safely. In heating and cooling systems, dry ice blasting is ideal
for cleaning dirty coils.
Fire Restoration & Soot Damage
It even eliminates or significantly reduces
the odour that is left behind by fire damage!
Paint and Material Removal
Paint, oil, grease, ink, asphalt, tar, decals,
soot, dirt, ink, resins and adhesives are some of the materials removed
by this procedure.
dry ice blasting is extremely aggressive, it is safe to use on production
equipment, printing presses, robotic lines, electric motors, fans, walls,
and floors etc. The process will not etch most substrate materials being
cleaned and adds no additional waste or residue.
